Optimization of Textile Material Properties for Sports Protection Needs and Analysis of Design Compatibility for Athletic Protective Gear
Main Article Content
Abstract
Addressing the issues of inadequate protective performance in sports protective gear textiles, poor alignment between material properties and athletic scenarios, and insufficient integration of comfort with protective functionality, this paper conducts research on optimizing textile material characteristics and adapting sports protective gear design based on core athletic protection requirements. First, integrating sports biomechanics theory, materials science principles, and ergonomic guidelines, we define core protective dimensions (impact absorption, freedom of movement, breathability/moisture wicking, fit/conformity) and key textile material performance metrics (mechanical properties, breathability, elastic recovery, abrasion resistance). Second, injury risk data and protective gear usage feedback from diverse sports (ball sports, contact sports, endurance sports) were collected to construct a multidimensional dataset (SPD-2024) encompassing 6 sports scenarios and 5 protection levels. Third, design a technical framework of “protection requirement decomposition - material property optimization - protective gear structural adaptation.” Enhance material protective performance through fiber modification, fabric structure design, and composite process optimization. Introduce a protection-adaptation collaborative evaluation model to strengthen the alignment between material properties and protective gear design.
