Abstract

The Song and Yuan dynasties were an important stage in the development of Chinese music and dance culture. As tangible historical materials, music and dance images record the evolution of clothing forms and preserve visual evidence of changes in musical style. Clothing and music, as core elements of music and dance art, formed an interactive relationship throughout the social and cultural transformation of the Song and Yuan periods. Taking Song and Yuan music and dance images as the research object, this paper examines multiple carriers, including paintings, murals, stone carvings, and object decorations. Using literature research, image analysis, comparative research, and cultural anthropology methods, the study systematically analyzes the changing characteristics of music and dance costumes in terms of form, material, color, and ornamentation. It further investigates the evolution of contemporary musical styles in melody form, rhythm and meter, instrument combination, performance form, and aesthetic orientation. On this basis, the paper explores the internal logic and external expression of the interaction between clothing changes and music styles.
