Abstract

Using the case of Leshan, this paper examines how enhancing the identification of urban micro-cultural carriers can strengthen empathy among urban roamers. Against the background of China’s cultural and tourism development shifting from scale expansion to quality improvement and the increasing adoption of intelligent communication and digital information dissemination technologies, the research highlights the role of urban micro-cultural carriers in cultural inheritance, tourism experience optimization, and multimodal cultural perception. Building upon the concepts of genius loci, landscape as actor, and urban roaming, a theoretical framework is established to interpret the activation and mobilization of cultural landscapes. The study demonstrates that improving the identification of urban micro-cultural carriers not only facilitates the systematic exploration and dynamic inheritance of local cultural resources but also significantly enhances roamers’ cultural perception and empathic experience through more effective information interaction and contextual communication. Strategies including immersive cultural experience design, narrative storytelling, and digital-media-assisted identification are proposed and validated through the case of Leshan, effectively strengthening urban cultural identity and attractiveness. The findings provide practical references for other heritage cities and offer a scalable pathway for integrating cultural resources with intelligent information dissemination and sensing environments, contributing to interdisciplinary research at the intersection of cultural tourism and advanced communication technologies.
