Abstract

Under China’s dual-carbon goals, this study constructs an industry-specific Environmental, Social, and Governance evaluation system for health industry enterprises and examines how ESG performance affects green operation efficiency. The framework integrates the technical requirements of healthcare services with environmental governance, product responsibility, and corporate compliance, forming a hierarchical indicator system covering environment, society, and governance dimensions. Based on expert consultation, analytic hierarchy process weighting, and empirical analysis of listed health industry enterprises, the study evaluates ESG performance and green operation efficiency from resource utilization and process efficiency perspectives. The results show that overall ESG performance has a significant positive effect on green operation efficiency. Environmental performance provides the most direct path for improving resource efficiency, while technological innovation and digital investment serve as important mechanisms for operational optimization. The findings provide empirical evidence and practical guidance for improving operational efficiency, reducing environmental impact, and promoting sustainable development in the health industry under green transformation requirements.
